Tell Me Everything Will Be Okay
a film by Jenni Olson
Tell Me Everything Will Be Okay is a lyrical 16mm urban landscape essay film from acclaimed queer filmmaker, Jenni Olson (The Royal Road, The Joy of Life).
In an intimate, wryly humorous soliloquy, Olson reflects on growing up queer and gender non-conforming in Minnesota, grappling with the classic character traits of her Scandinavian heritage, the power of identifying with fictional characters, and the joy of pining over unavailable women. Against a backdrop of gorgeously composed shots of city streets and buildings and industrial decay, Tell Me Everything Will Be Okay unfolds a deep reflection on vulnerability as a path to self-acceptance; nostalgia as a key to lost wisdom and returning us to this moment; and storytelling itself as a mode of survival.
